OOC: I know the title is cheesy and might not make sense, but it kind of does... sorta BIC: You awake, groggy and not remembering much. The sound of screaming startles you to attention, something in you driving you to investigate, a feeling you don't understand but at the same time not feeling foreign. Looking around, you see a man on the floor, they look dead, and a woman at the doorway still screaming. To your side you see a bloody sword. If you don't remember anything else, you know this is your sword. A feeling of unease overtakes you and you hear the woman utter words you don't want to hear, "GUARDS! HELP! SOMEONES KILLED THE KING!" What do you do? OOC: This will be the format we go at for the first portion of this while I build the world out. I'll describe things you will see and interact with and you decide that your character does and says and how they react from here on out.

ooc: I'm deciding whether I should respond in first person or third person and I'm leaning towards third person. But for now I'm going to try to use first person since that's how you started out. If I feel it's not working I'll switch to third person. I just have a harder time writing the character from first than third even if I'm describing the same things. I tend to go ooc easier in first as well.
bic: I grab my sword, that's the first thing I do before I even jump up, the grip feels familiar and comfortable in my hand. After I get to my feet I quickly look around to gather as much as I could before anyone else arrived. I check if there's a window in the the room. I take another look at the man on the ground, I look at his injuries, if it was caused by a sword or something else, if it was my sword that could have done it. The women said 'king' so I check his attire to see if he was wearing noble attire, a crown maybe. My eyes glancing from the man to the women to the rest of the room was all the time I spared before making my next move. I could try to reason with the women, I could wait for the guards, but right now I didn't know or trust them and for all I know I could have killed the king, maybe I had a good reason.
ooc: I hope this is alright. I wanted to take a look around before acting so I could weigh my options. If I could escape through a window or had to get passed the women.

Assessing your situation, you find that you're in a bed chamber and beside the bed is a crown. The king is in a bed gown stained red with blood. The woman is clearly frightened, but still holds her ground, blocking the door. There is also a window, and you think you're at least to stories up if not more from the view through the window. You can also tell it's nightfall and raining. You see the torches of oncoming guards walking along the wall to your location. It seems your only hope is to fight it through or risk the window.

Throwing caution to the wind I ran for the window. I use my sword to break the glass before diving through it, keeping my momentum going, hoping that it will at least stop me from breaking any bones even if it doesn't keep my from any other injuries.

The window shattered with a crash and you fly through it into an open space on the other side. You proceed to fall three stories into a conveniently located wagon filled with hay. A larger piece of glass does fall and cut your arm, but not enough to be more than a pain and an inconvenience.

As soon as I regain my balance I jump out of the cart, the pain from the cut of glass dulled by the adrenaline pumping through me. I run for the nearest alley, but pause for a few seconds to turn around and look at the cart that broke my fall and up to the window I dove from. Amazing, I think before turning around running as fast as I could.

There's an almost chaotic amount of activity now, as the sound of an alarm sounds from the nearby towers. You seem to be in a courtyard now and making your way instinctively towards the main gate, which has already been shut. There are also guards coming up from behind.

I'm surprised to find myself in the open courtyard expecting to be in town. I try to remember how I could have possibly gotten here, but urgency of the situation quickly pushes that away. Fighting would be futile and I may as well just give up rather than try and fight my way out. And the the main gate wouldn't be a good way out either. So I looked towards the nearby towers to see if there were an entrance that could be useful.

The guards have mostly cleared the towers, which in turn are covered by a thick vines. They might be scale-able but you might have to worry about archers. You do notice a storm drain, but it might lead to nowhere. The guards close in on your position.

The storm drain will at least get me out of the open and if it's in the same state as the towers with overgrown vines then any bars blocking my path may be warn down from the water for me to break through. I quickly change direction and head for the storm drain.

The storm drain isn't blocked off and you have enough room to dive in. A couple arrows break on the wall beside you, narrowly missing their intended target. Looks like the storm drains all you've got.

I dive in and move as fast as I can down it. The guards probably know where it exits and I don't want to be ambushed by them, so speed is my best option right now.

Jumping down, the corridor was 5 feet tall and circular, though you had solid footing. There was about 5 inches of water and it was flowing pretty quick. It's clear in both directions.

I follow the the flow of the water, running down the corridor.

Following the flow, more corridors join the main one you seem to have fallen into, each adding a lit more water flow. The water level begins to rise with a combination of the outside rain and the joining streams of water till it's at your knees now. You hear a loud rumbling behind you akin to thunder.

I keep heading forward, taking one turn after the other without really knowing where any may be leading. Since my pursuers wasn't on my heels anymore I take the time to see how I was doing. I notice the scar from the window and look for any other injuries that I may have. I also look at what I'm wearing, maybe it would provide a clue.

Your shoulder is still bleeding, not having the time yet to close up. Your cloths are not formal but still show class. The only armor you're wearing is a chest plate and shoulder pads. A long cloak is draped over the solder plates and hands down to your ankles. The scabbard for your sword hangs at your side as you run. The sword in your hand in the only think bearing a symbol, a family crest etched near the hilt right into the broad side of the blade. That's ad much as you gather before the thunderous roar of water surrounds you and carries you away down the corridors.

I'm helplessly being carried away thinking that this must be some stupid idea by some stupid guard trying to stupid drown me because I jumped into the storm drain. I make a mental note to put all the guards on my list as soon as I find out who they are.

Helpless indeed. Despite your instinctual deep breath of air, being banged around while underwater is almost too much too take. You feel yourself start to black out and right as you think it's too late, you wake up. You're on a rocky riverside and face down, the top half of you out of the water. You feel soar and hungry, and it's still late at night.

Your sword is nowhere to be seen, but so is your scabbard, which was fixed to your waste the last you remember.

I give a sigh and look around for any footprints. If both the sword and scabbard washed away there wasn't much I was going to be able to do about it, if someone took it I could see if I can catch up to them. But I also needed to get out of these wet clothes and somewhere dry, getting sick was the last thing I needed right now.

The riverside, being a rocky one, doesn't show signs of travel, recent or otherwise. In your looking around, you've spotted a wisp of smoke rising from the nearby forest. It's the thin white smoke of a small campfire.

I shake off as much water as I can before heading for the smoke, moving more carefully and slowly the nearer I get.

While you're still out of range to see the fire, you start hearing whistling. Slow at first, but rising to a jovial concordant melody. It almost sounds like multiple people whistling. By the time you can see the fire, there's one person in sight. They appear to be a woman wearing light armor. Blackened leather, her skin nearly as dark, over a green tunic and lighter green cloak. She seems to be cleaning out dirt under her nails with a fine dagger. She's also bald, has multiple piercings, and an air of familiarity about her, like you've seen or met her before. The sword, your sword, leaning against the tree trunk beside her is a lot more familiar, since it is your sword.

You're senses and sense ability return quickly as you scan the surroundings. You feel a slight tug at the back of your belt right as you notice that the woman is gone, along with the sword.

The woman is behind you but you dip out of the way. She doesn't move and you feel a tap on your leg. The sword was not hitched to your leg in it's sheath. The woman has her hands up in some show of surrender, but her smile gives you the feeling she doesn't exactly perceive you as a threat.

I let out a grunt of annoyance at being so easily found out. "Hmm, who are you?" I ask shortly, touching the sword to make sure it was really there, but not drawing it.
