Espeon, Meowstic, Exeggcutor, Hypno, Lapras, Dewott, Goodra, and Vaporeon were all sitting together when Eggecutor called the court to order. The doors were locked and court was in session.

Goodra seemed to be as calm as a rock. Meowstic wished she felt half as calm inside as she looked outside. The tension in the air and all the pokemon around them felt like they were crushing her, she did not like this one bit.

OOC: Switching to the TDS formatting to help things along. I think it'll make sense considering. We'll switch back to traditional RP after the Trial.
Exeggcutor Angry/Sad/Happy head in unison: On the trial of the Waterfall Community against Vaporeon being charged for deadly attacks against her fellow pokemon and disrupting the peace.
Exeggcutor Angry Head: Our first witness will be Lapras, since Milotic couldn't make it. Lapras was the second most recent attack with Milotic occurring more recent and Dewott being the first attacked.
Exeggcutor Happy Head: We call Lapras to the front to give her testimony. The Defence will be able to cross-examine the witness after that.

Meowstic: *in Absol's mind* What do they mean with cross-examine? Something about a doctor?

Absol: 'It means ask questions of the witness and test if their story is true. You want to look for contradictions that invalidate their testimony.'

Absol: 'Indeed. All hog posh far as I can tell.'
*during the exchange between Absol and Meowstic, Lapras made her way to the witness stand.*
Exeggcutor Angry/Sad/Happy head in unison: Lapras will now give her testimony.

Goodra looked over to Absol and Meowstic, giving them a smile and then over to Vaporeon to see how she was holding up, before concentrating on the testimony about to start.

The characters:
Lapras: If it's not clear, Lapras is not the victim she's made out to be. She works for Hypno and is essentially the second in command for this small villain ring. Though it is claimed Vaporeon attacked her, it's not exactly as she was going to say it went down. Vaporeon did attack her but it was premeditated. Vaporeon both does and doesn't work for Hypno and it was the part of her that does that attacked Lapras. It was a set up from the beginning to make her the victim in all this and the target for the authorities. She was the scapegoat. Lapras allowed herself to be attacked and injured as a means to set her up to get the key from Vaporeon.
Dewott: Dewott was injured the most in this and is also an agent working for Hypno. But unlike Lapras, who shares Hypnos views and evil intentions, Dewott continues to work to protect his family. He was sent to attack Vaporeon after she's retrieved the key from the guardians and steal it from her but failed and was severely injured in the process, an outcome that Hypno expected and has already accounted for. He's only continuing to aid Hypno to protect his family.
Hypno: He's the master mind behind all of this and orchestrator of all the evil going on in this Water pokemon community. While he is a general evil mastermind, his focus is to obtain the same power Absol seeks, and he knows he needs the keys. He's always had Lapras as his side and her loyalty has be tested true. He blackmailed Dewott into colluding with him by using his desire to protect his family. He's also the one that organized all the attacks on Lapras, Dewott, and Milotic towards his own end. He currently keeps Milotic asleep and has brought up Vaporeon from birth for this very purpose. It was his years of hypnosis that shattered Vaporeons psyche into the two distinct pokemon that exist in her mind. He's a manipulator through and through.
Milotic: A member of the higher up society in the water community, she is well respected and after the attack she's been kept at home to recuperate. Hypno was hired as her chief "butler" if you will and she's basically innocent in all of this. What should be noted is that Vaporeon did not attack her. After Lapras was initially attacked and Dewott was attacked, Hypno needed more fuel to criminalize Vaporeon and had Dewott and Lapras attack her in unison so the attack would have clearly come from another water pokemon. He's then kept her asleep and otherwise incapacitated so she can't testify. What hypno does with her now depends on the outcome of the trial.
Vaporeon: She/He is the most integral character in this mess. Being forced into a split personality by Hypno has had it's effects on the actual Vaporeon, a girl, but when she's "activated" for lack of a better word, she takes on the darker Vaporeon personality. This Vaporeon is a mirror of herself in both the physical means and the personality department. The scar on her ear switches to the other side and the primal anger and maliciousness is released. Vaporeon has been in this state for weeks and only recently managed to force her actual personality back to the surface. She's unaware of this other half of her and simply doesn't remember the time in which the other half takes over. She trusts hypno but is scared of Lapras. She doesn't remember Dewott at all, since the only interactions with Dewott happened while her other half was in control. It should be noted that Hypno can control when she switches and intends to trigger her transformation should the trial start to fall out of his favor. It should also be noted that without Hypno to turn it on, the other personality is completely dormant. You could view her as Dr. Jackal and Mr. Hyde or Bruce Banner and The Hulk if you want.
The trial is essentially the uncovering of the trusts in both false testimonies supplied by Lapras and Dewott. From there, The trial would ask Milotic be brought to the stand to which Hypno would activate Evil Vaporeon. If/When he/she is subdued, the trial will either continue with bringing Milotic to the stand who will finally bring the truth to light, or a fight with Hypno, which will also bring the truth to light. Justice would be served with all the pokemon named above being found guilty and sentenced accordingly. All except Milotic, of course, as she's the only fully innocent party here. Absol, Meowstic, and Goodra would be integral in determining the extent of Vaporeons sentencing, or possible release if a good argument is made.

What basically happened was:
Hypno activated Vaporeon and put Lapras in a position to be attacked as Vaporeon left to get the gem. After getting the gem and returning, Vaporeon returned and Dewott was sent to retrieve the gem. After he failed, Vaporeon went into hiding along all the various water ways and lakes. Eventually, the real Vaporeon broke free and was found by you guys. While she was gone, Hypno set up the attack on Milotic to further set up Vaporeon and both Dewott and Lapras were involved. After arriving, Vaporeon was taken into custody and all of our guys were roped into this trial against her. This leads to where we find ourselves now.

I get most of what was going on so I don't really have much to ask about that part. It seems like a really solid plot. As for going forward, I was thinking, what if Meowstic went into Vaporeon's mind and resolved some of the issues there. You said that Hypno was going to activate Vaporeon when things doesn't go his way, so it seems like a fight will be unavoidable. Meowstic can deal with Vaporeon and then Absol can then deal with Hypno, being unaffected by his psychic powers, with Goodra backing him up?

I could set it up that Hypno performs a mass hypnosis to put all the pokemon here to sleep and activates Vaporeon. Goodra and Absol go to fight Hypno and break his power over the pokemon while Meowstic restrains Vaporeon, trapping her in a mindscape where they confront her subconscious for control.

The trial was hard fought. Every defense put up by Goodra and Meowstic was shredded by the rock solid testimony of the victims. Lapras got a little shaky, but held firm to her story. The only hole in her story was easily explained away. Next and last to the stand was Dewott, he approached the stand, arm still bandaged, though his head was fine now. The Exeggcutor asked him to explain his testimony. The dictation was quite incriminating, since he was recalling when he was actually attacked and didn't have to bluff about anything. Where his testimony was rough was in the times he would mention Hypno, and he would glance over to him before looking back down at the ground.

ooc: Alright. So Espeon is doing the cross examination, right? Or do you want Goodra to talk to Dewott? If so perhaps you got give me a push to get me started in the right direction? I'll post Meowstic and Goodra for now. Might be a little rusty since I haven't read up on them as much as I should have. Goodra had her arms folded. She had to admit that the trail wasn't going very well and it didn't help that she didn't have any experience with this kind of trail. Throughout her travels she always felt that justice could be served, well, honestly. This didn't feel honest to her, or at least something felt wrong, and it felt like this whole trail business was set up in a way that prevented them from finding out just what that was. Meowstic was really worried and confused, she didn't know who to believe anymore. She was almost of the mind to do the only thing she was able to do then and that was to fight her way out to Absol and escape with the whole gang. She wondered what it would be like to be a criminal, she wondered what her parents would think of her, if they would be ashamed of her or if they would understand how she had felt just before becoming a criminal. She pushed those thoughts deep down though and tried to concentrate on the witnesses, try the see any contradictions in their testimonies, although she had already realized that psychic powers didn't do anything to help her figure out, break down and match up the testimonies on order to find those contradictions. It was a bit of a blow to her ego, she always thought she was one of the more clever pokemon out there, if not the smartest. This whole thing was making her feel quite discouraged and tiny. She did notice Dewott's nervousness though, but didn't really know if it meant anything.

OOC: I was mostly letting you post for them up until this point. See what they're thinking thus far about this trial. Going to post for Espeon and Dewott later and then you can react to that and we'll be caught up enough for moving forward and a reasonable clip.
